In a dark, dark wood there was a dark, dark house...

This is a jewel. This short story is incredibly intense. In a few pages, Tim comes literally alive with all his flaws and past trauma, and Luke, whose point of view remains outside of the story, comes alive with his keen spirit of observation and his caring compassion. In a few pages, I felt invested in their story and in their future, I watched with horror and fascination how Tim was coming apart and Luke was trying to keep him together during a trip which should have been harmless, where the dark wood resembles the psychological situation Tim finds himself in. A gripping and chilling story.Product details

In a Dark Wood edition by Josh Lanyon Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Great book, that is enough to have to rate a product. Should be easier to rate a product. Ha Ha
I went into this with no clues as to what to expect! But it is Josh Lanyon , right ? So it's sure to be good..... And you would be dead right! This book is a quick read; a really quick read - but wow! What a punch it packs - it was playing on my mind for days afterwards. Another winner by Josh! ..... And do yourself a favor, read it without knowing too much about what to expect - it will be worth the ride!
Thank the effing Lord. I was despairing of ever finding good writing in this genre (gay romance). This is not an m/m writer or a gay romance writer. Josh Lanyon is a real writer, period. Great dialogue with some humor in the exchanges, three-dimensional characters I love and yearn for, beautiful descriptions, and steam heat in a sleeping bag, too. The serial killer stuff was a little cardboard, but it wasn't the point of the story, for me; it's what the story needed for these two characters to come together. I am thoroughly won over by this author and so relieved to have found him. Just bought the "sequel."
... it was okay. short story kinda scary... sort of forced myself to read it since I bought it already.
This has to be the most fun and intense short story I've read in a long time. It began with a humorous tone that drew you in quickly and soon evolved into something much heavier and you found yourself gripped to the pages with a pounding heart. An unbelievably intense experience in such a short span of time. Totally worth it!
How to be creeped out....this book had it. Reminded me of the old spooky stories you told each other in the dark. Great story, had me on edge the entire time. And I really do want to know if Tim and Luke's relationship survives. Can't wait to read their next story.
Jump around, an see if you get everything in, that's what this author seems to do. Just can't see people acting like they do as the author presents these characters. Author needs a good friend to read his work and help with story line as well as situation presentation. I know this could have written better, and I believe author has what it takes to do just that.
